Fin lore & context

Fin is the slime every Slime RNG account starts with. It's the friendly tutorial-zone Common that drops within your first ten rolls, gets you through Beginner Pond and into Candy Land, and then quietly fades into the inventory while you chase rarer pulls. But independent wikis are unanimous on one detail that newer players miss: Fin is the best early-game damage option, period. Its 45 damage and 1.0 speed hit a baseline sweet spot that no other Common matches, and the unrestricted biome access means you can keep farming it while you progress. Every veteran has a soft spot for Fin — it's the first slime that proves the game is going to feel good.

Fin strengths & weaknesses

✓ Strengths

  • Highest baseline damage (45) of any Common-tier slime in the live build
  • 1.0 speed is the universal benchmark — fast enough for any biome, no penalty for terrain
  • Drops freely in Beginner Pond — easiest farm in the game, no luck stacking required
  • Crafting Machine ingredient for several mid-tier recipes including the Orca path

⚠ Weaknesses & counters

  • Common rarity caps trade value at 150M Coins — not a flip target, just inventory padding
  • 45 damage is far too low for Cavern zone and beyond; you'll outscale it inside 2 hours
  • No mutation upgrade path exists yet (no Huge Fin in any patch through v1.6.0)
  • Becomes redundant the moment Spike or Orca enters your roster

Fin synergies & stack partners

  • +Lucky Slime in support — small luck multiplier helps chase Fin's eventual mid-tier replacement
  • +Apple consumable — extends the early-game farm window where Fin is still relevant
  • +Beginner Pond biome — you'll never have higher Fin throughput anywhere else
  • +Crafting Machine queue — feed duplicate Fins into Orca recipe for guaranteed Rare-tier returns

Recommended loadouts for Fin

Day-1 starter build

  • [1]Fin (lead — main damage until something better drops)
  • [2]Any Common filler (just for the slot count)
  • [3]Empty third slot

The build literally everyone starts with. Run this through Beginner Pond and into the first 30 minutes of Candy Land. The moment Spike or any Uncommon drops, swap it into the lead slot.

Crafting feeder build

  • [1]Fin (held — feed into Crafting Machine)
  • [2]Spike (held — Orca recipe ingredient)
  • [3]Lucky Slime (held — keeps you in the Rare-tier window)

Once you've outgrown Fin's combat utility, switch its role to crafting fuel. Hold 4–6 Fin duplicates and feed them into the Orca recipe progressively — the guaranteed Rare-tier return is the highest-EV use of duplicate Fins.

Fin trade context (deep-dive)

Fin trades in the 50M–150M Coin band — the bottom of the Slime RNG trade economy. Demand is essentially zero from veterans (they have plenty), and the only buyers are brand-new accounts trying to skip the first hour of farming. Most Fin 'trades' are actually crafting-machine inputs in disguise; a duplicate Fin fed into the Orca recipe produces strictly more value than a 150M coin sale. Don't waste time listing Fin in trade chat — it's faster to just farm a fresh one in Beginner Pond.

Fin patch history

  1. v1.4.0

Drop weight in Beginner Pond increased to ease new-player onboarding.

  2. v1.0.0

Launch — introduced as the B-tier Common starter slime in Beginner Pond.
